Hello Everyone! Thank you for stopping by to read my latest blog post. I wanted to share with you some changes, or improvements, I should say, to how I review and work as a Green Beauty Blogger. As a qualified Beauty Therapist with a passion for healthy skin, and healthy natural skincare I have been wanting to change the way I approach skincare and the way I review. And as I expect full transparency from the brands I use, I feel that I need to be just as transparent in my own processes as a dedicated natural beauty reviewer. I am doing this firstly, to give my followers the best and most sincere information about brands, and their products. I want to be a source for natural beauty that you can trust, that you know has been thoroughly tested and meets a strict ingredients guideline. Secondly I want to help the brands I am reviewing, to showcase their products before I begin using them, and again after a full solid four to five weeks, I will post another photo with a review that will be linked to my blog. The reason I am now testing most products for this length of time is because I want to accurately see how a product has performed after a full 30 day skin cycle.
Our epidermis is a wonderful creation, in the space of 4-6 weeks little individual cells called Keratinocytes, that contain our skin's protein called Keratin, which protects our skin from outside damage and stress, die and get pushed up to the top most layer of the epidermis called the Stratum Corneum. Eventually these dead cells get chipped away and to make way for new Keratinocytes. This is why with any skincare product, new or mainstream, realistic results won't be seen straight away. We can notice small things such as softer skin and less dry, but in terms of lasting results, we need to use our skincare for longer. So this is essentially why I will now be reviewing for longer, as I believe that this is vital to my integrity as a Green Beauty Specialist. So for example, if I am testing a full range, which in my opinion is a necessary part of being able to review effectively, then that range is all I will be using for 4 weeks. If I have a Eye Cream, a Serum, a Moisturiser and a exfoliant, then these will be the only products of that type that I will use, of the one brand. This may take me longer, but in the long run, it is the most effective and honest way for me to continue as a blogger. I have no desire to use every product that I come across, with no real understanding of how it works, or how it effects the skin. So I look forward to moving on from this point, and I soo hope you will join me! Please feel free to contact me about anything that I have written here today. Don't you just love finding great quality, luxurious, natural and unique skincare? I know I do! And I am really enjoying my rich, fulfilling love affair with Australia's iconic brand Sodashi. Sodashi are just one of those IT brands. What is IT you ask? It's a brand that has it all, from the best natural ingredients, to the highest grade essential oils. Combined together I discovered rich, high performance, beautifully scented products, that felt like a dream to use. The Beautiful Franca from Peachyclean sent me the most devine Calming skin care kit. I literally received my kit the day after we discussed the order! Thank you Franca!
My Calming Kit included, 30ml Sandalwood Clay Cleanser which is so thick and creamy almost like a lush moisturiser. Next is the hero 10ml Calming Concentrate , which uses a concentrated blend of plant essences to gently exfoliate the skin, using soothing chamomile and lavender, which has helped reduce redness in my skin dramatically. What I loved about this product the most is the beautiful ritual behind it. Adding 6-7 drops to a very wet and warm wash cloth I gently pressed this to my face for a few minutes. The heavenly scent coming from the oils and the soothing plant essences create a really precious moment. One that leaves me feeling relaxed and happy, with soft and plump skin. I have NEVER used anything like this product before. It is truly unique and beyond comparison! I also want to take the time to thank Kate and Rachel for there wonderful customer service, I had extra questions regarding the concentrate and they both were happy to answer all my questions! The kit also included a beautiful Rose face Mist, which has lasted ages, considering how often I love to liberally spray my face! The calming skin boost magically sinks into the skin, which helps to heal and strengthen the skin, followed by the thick, creamy nutrient dense, absorbent eye and lip soother. I love this eye cream, I don't normally like thick creams around the eye as I feel like its just sitting there, waiting to sting me, but this one has been perfect. Lastly comes the final layer of dreamy skin goodness. The Calming Neck and Face moisturiser. So delicate and nourishing. A final layer of Calming excellence, that has my skin ready for a night of repair. And my favourite thing! I have been waking up clear, calm and red free skin. It feels smooth and even. Sodashi truly is a dream. Sodashi is a chemical free, natural, Australian made cruelty free brand. For full ingredient listing, please see the lovely sodashi website. The opinions are completely my own. I do not work or get paid by either company mentioned in this post. I do this review because I love green beauty and want to share my experience. Thank you for reading. Please feel free to leave a comment! Brooke Hello Skin Hello and Welcome to my Blog! I have much to share and I hope to develop and expand my knowledge, and yours, on all that is Natural and Green Beauty. I thought that I would share details of how I discovered the wonders of natural beauty, and how I undertook the task of gradually switching over everything in my house from mainstream and toxic laden, to natural, botanically derived and environmentally friendly. It has been one of the most inspiring, wonderful experiences I have ever undertaken, and I have loved every minute of it! I have discovered so many amazing brands, and been fortunate enough to have made some really genuine and important relationships with many strong beautiful and clever creators and other green beauty advocates. I have hopes to introduce a new element to my blog called "Behind the Beauty" were I will get in-depth and personal with many of these strong go getter creators! I'm very excited! I began my journey into natural in between having my two children. I was always super aware that some brands were highly toxic, such as Johnson and Johnson and I never allowed these brands into my home. So I was certainly choosing what I thought was the better option, but did not really understand the plethora of ingredients out there. It was all too confusing! But I found it also interesting! So after my second baby, I took myself back off to school to get my Diploma of Beauty Therapy, which included subjects such as cosmetic chemistry, skin biology and nutrition, which helped me do my own research on products and what was both good and bad for my family. So I started off doing small things, mostly in area's such as my skincare, deodorants and products for my boys bathtime. Then as I researched obsessively I began to switch over my make up. I had already been using only cruelty free, so I just needed to step my game up and move completely to natural! It helped that there were so many amazing websites such as Nourished Life and I Am Natural Store to guide my way. So next came hair care, nail care, oral care and laundry care. So much CARE! Going slowly is the key, doing your research, asking questions and getting samples! Nobody wants to spend a fortune on a product that is not right for them. I hope I can be of some help in this instance. Please check out my "Hello Favourites" tab, here I have added my tried and true brands and I believe all of these brands and distributors are environmentally conscious, with beautiful ingredients, and have products that work. Most are Australian, as I will always purchase Australian whenever I can. So follow me as I delve even further into the world of green beauty. If its ethical, local and luxe then I want to know! So much love to you all. Brooke Hello Skin |
